Joseph Galli

Attorney

Originally from Portland, Maine, Mr. Galli attended Elmira College in New York on a four-year Army ROTC Scholarship. At Elmira, he double majored in Business Administration and Public Affairs. Mr. Galli graduated from Elmira College in 2009 with a Bachelor of Science degree and was Commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Army.

Mr. Galli began his study of the law in 2009 at the University of New Hampshire School of Law. There, he focused on litigation and honed his advocacy skills as a member of the Advanced Trial Advocacy Team and the Moot Court Team. Mr. Galli was a member of the UNH Law Moot Court Team that competed in the 2001 John J. Gibbons Criminal Procedure Moot Court Competition. He was also the winner of the UNH School of Law Fall 2010 Intramural Moot Court Competition.

JAG Duty

Upon graduating from UNH Law and obtaining his license to practice law in the District of Columbia, Mr. Galli entered Active Duty as a Judge Advocate in the US Army Judge Advocate General’s Corps. During his four and a half years as a JAG lawyer, he served in a variety of roles, including Legal Assistance Attorney, Special Victims’ Counsel, Tax Center Attorney, and Part-Time Military Magistrate.

For the last two years of his service in the JAG Corps, Mr. Galli served as a Trial Defense Counsel in the US Army Trial Defense Service. In that capacity, he represented hundreds of clients across a broad spectrum of formal proceedings including courts-martial, involuntary elimination and separation proceedings, and other formal administrative hearings.

Criminal Defense Experience

Mr. Galli has served as lead counsel or as a member of the defense team on dozens of courts-martial, Article 32(b) preliminary hearings, pretrial confinement hearings, administrative boards, and in connection with other adverse proceedings. His defense teams have secured acquittals at criminal trials, assisted clients in avoiding federal criminal convictions by successfully negotiating alternate dispositions, successfully obtained discharge and characterization of service upgrades, and preserved dozens of careers through the successful defense of clients facing administrative separation and elimination proceedings.

Mr. Galli has built a reputation as a skilled, results-oriented litigator, who serves as an aggressive, passionate, and tireless advocate for his clients and their rights.

Mr. Galli is licensed in the District of Columbia (Bar Number 1048961). He is also a Member of the Bar of the United States Supreme Court and the US Army Court of Criminal Appeals (ACCA).
